PFA Scotland will be delivering a four-part webinar series, in collaboration with Athlete Focused, on the impacts of Female Health on elite performance.
The webinar series, which starts in August, will focus primarily on the menstrual cycle and hormonal contraception and will allow members to understand the impacts of female health on performance, as well as create discussion around these topics.
Athlete Focused are a strength and conditioning consultancy company that has specialised in women’s football in recent years. Together with PFA Scotland, they aim to grant access to education around female health for football players in Scotland, allowing players to understand the impacts of female health on performance, challenge some misconceptions and sharing experiences with one another.
The webinars will be lead primarily by Julia Donnelly of Athlete Focused, who believes this topic is becoming more significant for elite footballers in Scotland and beyond.
“Through our own research, we have learned that 93% of footballers in Scotland believe that their menstrual cycle impacts their performance. It’s important we are able to address that and understand how to support it. Players in Scotland all have different circumstances, with a lot of players juggling full-time jobs alongside their football, so its really important we are able to support as many as players as we can.”
