LEAGUE 2 TEAM OF THE YEAR

PFA Scotland are delighted to announce the League 2 Team of the Year for 2025/26, supported by Persimmon Homes.
The Team of the Year is voted by fellow professionals across the League 2, with players given the opportunity to choose an XI in a 4-3-3 formation. This season’s team features representatives from six clubs.
Goalkeeper
Patrick Martin (The Spartans)
The Spartans stopper has been crucial to the club’s promotion push this season. Joining in the summer from Bonnyrigg Rose, Martin has 11 clean sheets in 32 league games.
Defender
Sean Fagan (East Kilbride)
It’s been a great season for the Kilby defender as the club look to chase back-to-back promotions. Capable of playing in multiple positions, Fagan has shown to be a dependable part of the league leader’s defence.
Ayrton Sonkur (The Spartans)
The towering defender has been a key part of the division’s best defence. Sonkur has shown consistency across the campaign and players across the division have recognised him as one of the league’s best defenders.
Logan Dunachie (Clyde)
At 22 years-old, Dunachie is proving to be one of the most promising players in the League 2. The defender has been a key part of Darren Young’s side as they look to securing a promotion play-off place.
Lewis Reid (Stranraer)
Securing a permanent move to Stair Park after a successful loan spell last season, Reid has had a big impact on a Stranraer team that are looking to end the season on a high. The defender has featured in every game so far this season.
Midfielder
Jack Leitch (East Kilbride)
Bringing composure and experience to the East Kilbride midfield, Leitch continues to impress players across the division. The club captain will be looking to have a big impact in the title run in.
Joao Balde (East Kilbride)
With 5 goals and 4 assists, the Portuguese has been in strong form for Mick Kennedy’s side across the campaign. The midfielder has been voted as one of the standout players in the division by his opponents.
Wullie Gibson (Annan Athletic)
Annan player-manager, Gibson, shows no signs of slowing down at 41 years of age. Capable of having an impact in several positions, Gibson has enjoyed an excellent individual season with Annan, chipping in with 3 goals and 10 assists.
Forward
Mark Stowe (The Spartans)
With 18 goals so far in League 2, it’s no surprise to see players across the division nominate Stowe as one of the league’s best forwards. Capable of playing across the front three, Stowe has proven to be pivotal in the title race.
John Robertson (East Kilbride)
No player in the SPFL has scored more than Robertson’s 30 across all competitions. With 18 goals and 9 assists in League 2, Robertson has been crucial for Kilby with match-winning moments.
Leighton McIntosh (Dumbarton)
Returning to Scotland in the summer, McIntosh has been a shining light for the Sons. The forward has scored 16 goals this term, which has helped the club secure their SPFL status.
