Sporting Chance

Confidential, and independent mental health support service for members to receive one to one mental health support from trusted professionals. Sporting Chance operate 24/7, members can contact sporting chance anytime, all year round.

How it Works

1. Get in Touch

You can call the 24/7 helpline or submit an online referral form. A member of the Sporting Chance team will be in touch to get things started.

2. Your Initial Call

During your first conversation with Sporting Chance, you will discuss your needs and preferences. Based on this, they will connect you with the therapist or counsellor who’s the best fit for you, considering factors such as your type of support, personal preferences, and location.

3. Connecting with Your Counsellor

Your chosen therapist or counsellor will contact you within 72 hours of your initial call to arrange your first session.

4. Start Your Journey

You’ll then start your sessions and begin receiving the support and guidance you need.

Workshops provided

PFA Scotland’s wellbeing workshops provide players with practical tools and knowledge to support their overall health and development. Covering topics such as mental health and wellbeing, gambling awareness, financial wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion. Wellbeing Partners

RCA Trust

RCA Trust is a Scottish charity offering free, confidential support for anyone affected by gambling‑related harm, including individuals and their families. They also provide counselling and services around alcohol and drugs, striving to reduce addiction harm.

Show Racism the Red Card

Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is the UK’s leading anti‑racism education charity. Founded in 1996, it uses the influence of sport and role‑models to deliver workshops, resources and training that challenge racism in society, schools and sport.

TIE

Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) is Scotland’s LGBT‑inclusive education charity. It works with schools to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, delivering free resources, pupil workshops and professional learning for teachers to embed LGBT‑inclusive learning across the curriculum.

Cahonas

Cahonas Scotland is Scotland’s leading testicular cancer charity. They deliver awareness‑talks, distribute free self‑check guides and resource packs, challenge stigma around men’s health, and aim to ensure early detection of testicular cancer, when treatment is most effective.

CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! is the UK’s dedicated breast‑cancer awareness charity for younger people. Founded in 2009, it educates 18‑ to 24‑year‑olds about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourages regular chest checks, and empowers individuals to seek help early because early diagnosis saves lives.

Members can access a range of wellbeing self-help resources in the Members Area, offering practical tools, guides, and information to support mental health and emotional wellbeing. These resources cover topics such as managing stress, building resilience, avoiding burnout, seeking support, and many more. Empowering players to take proactive steps towards positive mental health.

Concussion Protocol

In Scotland, professional football follows strict concussion protocols to protect player safety.

Any player suspected of concussion must be immediately removed from play and not return the same day. The SPFL allows permanent concussion substitutions, so teams aren’t disadvantaged. Players follow a graduated return-to-play programme under medical supervision, ensuring full recovery before resuming competition.
