PFA Scotland is proud to announce the Scottish League Two Team of the Year for the 2024/25 season, as voted by the players in the fourth tier.
The announcement, with MD Electrical Contractors, features eleven players from six clubs. The team is voted in a 4-3-3 formation by players as part of annual Player of the Year voting.
Goalkeeper
Liam McFarlane (East Fife)
McFarlane is enjoying his maiden season as a first-team player after arriving at Bayview in the summer. On loan from Hearts, the 20-year-old has kept a clean sheet in a third of his games, so far this season.
Defenders
Craig Ross (Stranraer)
Into his fourth season at the Blues, Ross has been an integral part to Stranraer’s season as they’ve continued to climb the table. Players across the division have recognised Ross as one of the league’s standout defenders.
Andy Munro (East Fife)
The 32-year-old defender has proven to be a top signing for Dick Campbell’s East Fife, after arriving from Forfar in the summer. Effective at both ends of the park, Munro has grabbed 3 goals and 3 assists that have helped the Fifers in their dramatic title race.
Brian Easton (East Fife)
Easton has played on both sides of the border across his career and even in the twilight of his career, at 37, is having a big impact at the back. East Fife will need Easton’s experience in the closing stages of the season as they aim for promotion to League One.
Cieran Dunne (Peterhead)
Proficient all down the left flank, Dunne has been a pivotal part of Peterhead’s success this season. The 25-year-old full back has five assists to his name this term and will be heading in to this weekend’s title clash full of confidence after being voted into League Two Team of the Year.
Midfielders
Andrew McCarthy (Peterhead)
McCarthy makes it into back-to-back Team of the Year’s in League Two. The midfielder has been crucial in firing the Blue Toon to the top of the league and is proving to be a bit of a fan’s favourite in the North East.
Innes Lawson (Edinburgh City)
Making the jump up to the Lowland League, like many of his City team-mates, Lawson has taken to the SPFL like a duck to water. City have impressed across the campaign, with the 21-year-old a central part to that, contributing 15 G/A.
Adam Brown (Stirling Albion)
A maverick for the Binos, Brown has chipped in with a huge 17 goal contributions across the campaign. The midfielder won League Two with Stenhousemuir in 23/24 and has had a big impact in the fourth tier once again.
Forwards
Alan Trouten (East Fife)
The veteran striker has more league goals than anyone else in the SPFL, making a big difference in the League Two title race. With 22 league goals and 26 in all competitions, Trouten has certainly left a lasting impression on his opponents, this season.
Kieran Shanks (Peterhead)
Averaging a goal or an assist every other game, Shanks has been impressed players across League Two across this season. The 22-year-old striker is in his second season with the Blue Toon as they have their eyes firmly set on promotion.
Nathan Austin (East Fife)
Goals follow Austin wherever he goes, with the striker part of an exclusive club of players who have over 100 SPFL goals. 16 in total this season have made a big impact in East Fife’s promotion hunt.
