PFA Scotland, as a proud member of FIFPRO, welcomes the confirmation that FIFPRO Europe has joined the UEFA Executive Committee with full voting rights. This landmark development formally recognises that players must be directly involved in the key decisions that shape the modern game, from health and working conditions to the overall strategic direction of football across Europe.

The appointment of David Terrier as the first player representative with voting rights on UEFA’s highest decision making body, approved at the UEFA Congress, represents a significant step forward for player representation. It strengthens the collective voice of professional footballers and ensures that those who compete at the highest level have a meaningful say in matters that directly affect their careers and wellbeing.

This progression builds on the 2024 memorandum of understanding between FIFPRO Europe and UEFA, which formally recognised FIFPRO Europe and its member unions, including PFA Scotland, as the official representatives of professional players. It reflects a growing acknowledgement across the game in Europe that collaboration with players’ unions is essential to safeguarding standards, protecting welfare and supporting sustainable growth within European football.

Fraser Wishart, PFA Scotland Chief Executive and a FIFPRO Europe Board member, said: “David will be an excellent representative for players in Europe. As a founder member of FIFPRO, PFA Scotland strongly believes this development is significant not only at European level, but also domestically. Strong representation at the highest levels of governance helps to set standards that influence leagues and associations across the continent, reinforcing the principle that the players’ voice must remain central to the future of the game which can help grow the game.”
